Studies on biodiversity conservation on limetone carst in the North-East of Huu Lien nature reserve, Lang Son province

Summary


The Huu Lien Nature Reserve was established under dicision of Government of Viet Nam in 1990. It located in Huu Lien commune, Huu Lung Distric, Lang Son Province and it's area is 10,640 ha. This forest is primarily distributed on low hills and in wet valleys.
To date 554 species, 334 general, 124 families of Lycopodiophyta, Equisetophyta, Polipodiophyta, Pinophyta, Magnoliophyta has been recorded in 48 km2 of Huu Lien Nature Reserve. The abundance distributions of taxon in division are difference. Of which, the Magnoliophyta is advatage with 93,86% in the total of species.
The Huu Lien Nature Reserve also conserves 18 species now threatened with extinction (Red book, 1996) which conservation a priority of Vietnam importance, and 11 families (over 11 species), 13 general (over 5 species) which are the most diverse ones. Moreover, this nature reserve conserves many useful species as medicine, wood plants…
The establishment of Huu Lien Nature Reserve will fill an importance gap in the protected across system and by addressing an issue of international conservation on biodiversity.
